New River Light and Power earned the Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation from the American Public Power Association on November 15, 2022.
NRLP was awarded the designation for demonstrating commitment to and proficiency in energy efficiency, distributed generation, and environmental initiatives that support a goal of providing low-cost, quality, safe, and reliable electric service.
The SEP designation lasts for two years (December 1st, 2022 to November 30th, 2024) and recognizes public power utilities for demonstrating leading practices in four key disciplines:
- smart energy program structure
- energy efficiency and distributed energy programs
- environmental and sustainability initiatives
- the customer experience
NRLP was one of just 31 utilities nationwide to earn the SEP designation in 2022 and joins 101 other public power utilities who hold this honor.
